Narrator opens a book
Narrator: once upon a time
Long ago, in a quiet little town called Nazareth, something amazing was about to happen. Mary was at home, minding her own business…
Mary enters, adjusting a blanket or sweeping the floor.
Both Angel enters with sparkly energy.
2Angel: Mary! Don’t be afraid. I bring wonderful news! You are going to have a very special baby, God’s own son. His name will be Jesus.
Mary: (softly but bravely) I will do what God wants. I am ready.
Joseph walks in.
Joseph: Mary, the angel spoke to me too! We will be parents to a special baby.
Narrator: But before the baby was born, they had to take a long trip to Bethlehem for the census. And so, the journey began…
Mary and Joseph walk in place slowly.
Suddenly Coco the Camel enters, strutting dramatically.
Coco: Helloooooo travellers! Make way for Coco the Camel—the most fantastic, fashionable, fabulously fluffy camel in ALL the desert!
Coco turns sharply and nearly bumps into Joseph.
Joseph: What…Who are you?
Coco: I am Coco and I can see you need some help
Mary: We’re travelling to Bethlehem. It’s a long boring (are we nearly there yet) marathon.
Coco: A WALK?! Oh no no no. You need a camel guide! I walk with STYLE! Watch this!
Coco demonstrates ridiculous slow-motion dramatic camel walking.
Narrator: And so the three of them continued toward Bethlehem—with Joseph leading, Mary holding the baby safe inside her, and Coco the Camel… well… showing off.
Narrator: When they finally arrived, Bethlehem was BUSY! Everyone everywhere, rushing around, looking for rooms.
Joseph: (knocks loudly on an imaginary door) Hello! Do you have any rooms?
Narrator: But the innkeepers said…
All kids offstage: NO ROOM!
Mary: We need somewhere warm and safe for the baby.
Coco: I know! Follow me! (frowns) Well… it’s not fancy, and it smells a bit like my Uncle Larry… but it's stable!
Sheep and cows and donkeys come on stage
Sheep: MOOO
Cows: hehaww
Donkeys: bahhh
[Refrain]
All: Silent night, holy night
[Verse 1]
Mary: All is calm, all is bright…
[Verse 2]
Joseph: Shepherds quake at the sight…
[Verse 3]
Shepherd: Son of God, love's pure light…
Shepherd: I was watching my sheep… who are VERY naughty today.
Narrator: Suddenly, a bright light filled the sky!
Both Angel swoops in happily.
Both Angel: Don’t be afraid! I bring good news for all people! A special baby—Jesus—has been born in Bethlehem! You will find him lying in a manger!
Shepherd: (excited) A baby? In a manger? That’s not normal! I must go see Him right now!
Shepherd runs toward Mary and Joseph.
Star walks in
Wise Person 1: I saw a bright star in the sky!
Star walks slowly around the stage
Wise Person 2: Oh no it’s leaving!
Star slowly leaves the stage with Wise Person 1 following
Narrator: But of course… someone else saw the star too…
Coco: Of course I saw it! I see EVERYTHING!
Star: “Go this way and bring snacks!”
Coco: Well… maybe not the snacks part, but I brought myself.
Wise Person 1: Coco, can you take us to the stable
Coco: Absolutely! (jumps into a silly camel pose) Climb aboard the Camel Express! Zoom! Zoom! Zoom!
Wise Person 2: Maybe not too fast.
Mary holds Rafeeq. Joseph sits proudly beside them.
Narrator: And so the shepherd and the wise ones found Mary, Joseph, and the new baby Jesus—just like the angel had said.
Shepherd: He’s so tiny… and so cute in every single way possible even when he’s called bob and he’s your uncle.
Wise Person 1: I think bring a gift for the new king!
Coco: And I bring… (dramatic pause) …my amazing camel presence! Because every baby deserves at least one fabulous camel.
STAR WALKS IN
Star: what I think every baby deserves is a STARRRRR. I am the real! Star of the show
Everyone cheers
Mary: Thank you all for coming.
Joseph: Tonight is a wonderful night.
Narrator: And that is how, on a very busy night in Bethlehem, the world welcomed Jesus—with angels singing, shepherds hurrying, wise travellers searching… and one extremely talkative camel helping everyone find their way.
All Together: MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Coco: 1 2 and 1 2 3 LET’S DO THIS
Star: Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Ah
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Okay, everybody, clap your hands
I'm a superstar, and I'm coming out tonight
I've had a little makeover
And I'm all dressed up tonight
A cheeky drink
All: Of wine!
Star: , a naughty wink
We'll loosen up alright
Coco: Stand back and put your shades on
'Cause I'm about to shine
My blinding light will throw you
'Cause there's no starlight like mine
All: Ooh-oh, ooh-oh
Sparkle and shine
